BEL (Bharath Electronics Limited) and Israel Aerospace Industries (IAI) have recently signed a Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) to establish a joint venture for long-term product support services for India's defense forces.

This announcement was made by Union Minister of State for Defense, Ajay Bhat, at Aero India 2023, an ongoing biennial air show and aviation exhibition in Bengaluru.

The partnership between BEL, a leading manufacturer of defense electronic products and systems, and IAI, a top aerospace and defense company in Israel, aims to provide life cycle support for the Medium Range Surface to Air Missile (MRSAM) air defense system in India.

This new joint venture will have its headquarters in New Delhi and provide technical and maintenance support to the Indian armed forces.

MRSAM is an advanced air and missile defense system that protects against various aerial platforms and is used by the Indian Air Force, Army, Navy, and Israeli Defense Forces. The system includes an Advanced Phased Array Radar, command and control shelter, mobile launchers, and interceptors with an advanced RF seeker.

MRSAM was jointly developed by IAI and DRDO in collaboration with India and Israel for India's defense forces.

This joint venture is a significant step in cementing the relationship between the two companies that have a long history of the association.

The partnership also demonstrates with a long association history IAI's commitment to supporting the Indian government's vision of an 'Atmanirbhar Bharat' (self-reliant India) and BEL's active participation in the Indian supply chain.

The joint venture is expected to play a crucial role in ensuring timely product support services for MRSAM systems and enables substantial indigenous workshare.

This collaboration is a driving force for the 'Make in India' policy and reiterates IAI's support to the strong partnership with DRDO in developing and supporting advanced systems for the Indian armed forces.

This joint venture between two prestigious companies from India and Israel will certainly play a very important role as a single point of contact in delivering product support services for MRSAM systems.
