Flying Wedge Defence, a Bangalore-based company, has launched a state-of-the-art facility to manufacture drones and unmanned aircraft in Bangalore's Electronic City.
The CEO of Flying Wedge Defence, Suhas Tejaskanda, said that the aim is to "eliminate the global dependency and monopoly of China in the unmanned aircraft market and make India a global leader".
The company has invested Rs. 100 crores in the project, which includes research, design, development, and manufacturing of unmanned aircraft systems in India.
The facility includes a research division, and mechanical and electronics manufacturing facilities with industrial-grade machines, such as SMT lines, laser etching, PCB fabrication, motor winding machines, and CNC laser cutting.
The facility also has various testing equipment and a NABL-certified laboratory for various tests.
The global market for drones in India is about $6 Bn and $30 Bn globally. Flying Wedge Defence aims to be the dominant drone services provider in India, focusing more on women entrepreneurs from Tier 2/3 cities.
The company has signed an MOU worth 100 crores with the Government of Karnataka during the Bandhan event at AeroIndia 2023.

We will be building drones and unmanned aircraft for all companies in India and also for the world. We want to add new wings to PM Modi’s dream of Atma Nirbhar Bharat in the Defence and Aerospace sector".
The company's move to manufacture unmanned aircrafts and drones in India aligns with the Indian government's push towards self-reliance and a "Made in India" initiative.
With the ban on foreign drone imports, Flying Wedge Defence's manufacturing platform is expected to address the huge shortage of drones in India.
The company is poised to become a global leader in unmanned aircraft manufacturing, contributing significantly to the country's economy.
