In an announcement on Sunday, Union Minister of State for Atomic Energy and Space, Dr. Jitendra Singh, shared that the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) is gearing up to execute the final launch of the Gaganyaan mission in 2025.
The Gaganyaan project is geared towards showcasing India's human spaceflight capabilities, intending to send a crew of three members into a 400 km orbit for a three-day mission, concluding with a safe return to Earth by landing in Indian sea waters.
Emphasizing the significance of 2024 in the Gaganyaan timeline, Singh noted that crucial tests will be conducted this year to meet the mission's objectives.
He further highlighted that the last flight before the actual mission will involve a female robot named 'Vyommitra', simulating astronaut activities. Singh added that 2025 will witness a multi-faceted approach, with an Indian venturing into both space and the seabed, contributing to the development of a blue economy.
The recent achievement of placing the Aditya-L1 spacecraft in a Halo orbit was also acknowledged, marking another milestone for ISRO in space exploration.
