ISRO's Successful SSLV-D2 Launch:

The Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) has once again proven its expertise in the field of space technology with the successful launch of its second edition of the Small Satellite Launch Vehicle (SSLV-D2) from Sriharikota, Andhra Pradesh.

The rocket took off from the first launch pad of the Satish Dhawan Space Centre at 9:18am and successfully placed three satellites, EOS-07, Janus-1, and AzaadiSAT-2, into their intended orbits.

Here are some key takeaways from this historic launch:

  1. Flexible and Affordable Access to Space: The SSLV caters to the launch of small satellites weighing up to 500 kg to low earth orbits. It offers low-cost, flexible and quick access to space, making it a popular choice for countries and companies looking to launch small satellites into orbit.

  2. Advanced Technology: The SSLV is a 34m tall, 2m diameter vehicle with a lift-off mass of 120 tonnes. It is configured with three solid propulsion stages and a velocity terminal module, making it a more advanced and reliable version of the previous SSLV.

  3. Cost-Effective Launches: The ISRO has established a reputation for cost-effective and reliable launches, and the success of the SSLV-D2 launch is another milestone in this regard. The low-cost access to space provided by the SSLV is expected to increase the demand for Indian launches, making it a game-changer for the Indian space industry.

  4. Showcasing India's Capabilities: The launch of SSLV-D2 showcases India's capabilities in the field of space technology and its ability to offer flexible and affordable launch services to its customers. This is a testament to the expertise and innovation of the ISRO and the Indian space industry.

Despite a partial failure in the first test flight of the SSLV last year, the ISRO continued its efforts and developed the second edition of the SSLV, which has now proven to be a success. This successful launch marks a significant achievement for the ISRO and the Indian space industry and is expected to increase their global reach and impact.
