Norway and ISRO are exploring space collaboration..!

The Norwegian Ambassador, H.E. Mr. Hans Jacob Frydenlund, recently visited the Chairman of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO), Shri Somanath S, at ISRO Headquarters. The purpose of the visit was to discuss potential collaboration in space between Norway and India.



During the meeting, the Chairman of ISRO highlighted India's progress in involving private players in the space sector and emphasized the opportunities available for foreign participants.


The Norwegian Ambassador acknowledged the similarities between India and Norway in terms of values, focus on oceans and climate issues, and technological capabilities.

He also mentioned the increasing influx of talent from India to Norway, indicating the strong ties between the two countries.


Representatives from Kongsberg Satellite Service (KSAT), a Norwegian organization specializing in satellite communication and maritime surveillance services, accompanied the Ambassador.


The Chief Commercial Officer of KSAT expressed their interest in transitioning from a supporting role to establishing technical partnerships with ISRO and India.


They specifically discussed KSAT's plans for satellite communication services and maritime surveillance services.

ISRO extended an invitation to the KSAT team to explore expanding their navigational services for ship and aircraft monitoring to the global stage. They proposed establishing a ground station in India for this purpose.


The meeting concluded with an agreement on the importance of maintaining a continued partnership and increasing collaboration between India and Norway in the field of space exploration and technology.


Both sides expressed their commitment to further cooperation in the future.
